Tips for changing settings

Tips for changing settings

If you wish to change various settings, please keep the following tips in mind:

  • In all cases, make a screenshot of the settings before you change anything, so that you can always restore everything to your original settings.
  • An even better idea is to make a back-up of the router settings. Although the router settings should be retained after a firmware update, it may sometimes be the case that a number of settings will be lost. It is therefore advisable to make a back-up. (See below for more information about creating a back-up). If in doubt, please consult the comprehensive manual for your Sitecom router, which can be found on www.sitecom.com under Support.
  • If your network is working correctly, we advise you not to change any settings unless there is an immediate reason for doing so!

Make a back-up of the router settings

Although the router settings should be retained after a firmware update, it may sometimes be the case that a number of settings will be lost. It is therefore advisable to make a back-up of the router settings. To do this, follow the steps below:

1. Open a web browser, such as Internet Explorer or Safari.

2. Type the following address in the address bar http://sitecom.router (or http://192.168.0.1) and press Enter.

3. Log in with your username and password. For the user name, enter “admin” (lowercase). The password (WPA2 code) can be found in the Network Login Details flyer that may have been supplied or on the bottom of the router.

Back-up your router settings.

4. Click on Toolbox.

5. Click on Back-up.

6. Click on the Save button next to Backup Settings to save the settings to a file on your computer.

After the firmware update, you can use the Restore Settings button to upload the settings file, and all the settings will be restored.
